Conquer Hobart

Plan your trip with our suggested 3 day7 day and 14 day itineraries.

Hobart blends the old and new, outdoor adventure and cutting edge culture. You can sit on the bench in Salamanca Place and devour paddock-to-plate fare or knock back a wee dram at a whisky bar. Or follow a food, cider, beer or whisky trail to its source and meet the passionate makers who will capture your heart and soul.

Get out of town and jump aboard a thrilling eco-cruise departing nearby Bruny Island or Tasman Peninsula, or tackle a spine-tingling ghost tour at Port Arthur Historic Site. Bag a win on the Great Eastern Drive, exploring the Freycinet Peninsula by foot or kayak and downing just-shucked oysters. Or simply sit this one out by the ocean.

Lonely Planet also named Tasmania number four in the "Top 10 Regions in the World to Visit in 2015", so now is the time to grab a delicious taste of Tasmania.

This season’s winning ‘tip’ is to go behind the scenery and explore every corner.

What's On

Bream Creek Farmers Market

Monthly

Bream Creek Farmers Market is a produce based market held at the Bream Creek Show Grounds on the first Sunday of every month, showcasing growers, cooks, brewers, producers and makers, from South Eastern Tasmania and beyond.

Shop for Tasmanian produce and specialty products, while enjoying a day of fresh air amongst Bream Creek’s lush green paddocks, a roll down the hill to the seaside.

Dark Mofo

8 - 21 June 2017

Since Neolithic times, seasonal winter solstice rites have been held to face the darkness and bring back the light. The Museum of Old and New Art in Tasmania's winter festival Dark Mofo celebrates both ancient and contemporary mythologies, through large-scale public art, food, film, music, theatre, interactive art, light and noise. The usual Mona obsessions, with a darker twist - and a nude swim to welcome back the light.

Salamanca Markets

Every Saturday 8:30am - 3pm

The iconic Salamanca Market is a celebration of Tasmania's unique culture, creative artisans, talented musicians and diverse producers.

The weekly outdoor market, held every Saturday rain or shine, brings Hobart's waterfront alive with the colours, sounds and smells of Tasmania.

The diverse range of nearly 300 stallholders includes original, hand-made Tasmanian pieces, from woodwork to jewellery, fashion to fanciful, glassware and ceramics.
